Description

The Crescent Peak Off-Road area is located around Crescent Peak, on the border between Southern Nevada and California, a short drive west of Searchlight on Route 164. It is the site of popular ATV and dirt bike races and provides opportunities for riders of all experience levels. The routes include narrow trails, 4-wheel drive roads, and sandy washes.  This area is adjacent to both the Mojave National Preserve and the Wee Thump Joshua Tree Wilderness, so riders will see many amazing examples of unique Joshua Trees.

The area gives good access to many neighboring BLM- managed lands. On the East side of the riding area is the Walking Box Ranch, a popular tourist attraction.  Take some time to visit this BLM-managed historic landmark.

The California state line is the boundary of the Mojave National Preserve, which is managed by the National Park Service. Only street-legal vehicles are permitted in the Preserve, so be aware when trails are near the state line.

The Wee Thump Joshua Tree Wilderness is north of Highway 169. Only hikers and equestrians are allowed within the wilderness boundary. Motorized and mechanized use is only permitted on surrounding non-wilderness trails. Please be respectful of the wilderness boundary and only travel on designated roads and trails for your activity type. Horses are allowed and only certified weed free hay can be brought in.
