The Johnson and Stephanie Lane Area is an extremely popular day-use recreation site for both OHVs and Equestrians, conveniently close to the state capital of Carson City and downtown Minden.
Either trailhead provides access to vast Pine Nut Mountain Range, an extensive multi-use recreation trail network. The Johnson Lane staging area has ample parking for trailers and off-highway vehicles, while the Stephanie Lane trailhead is designed for equestrian use only.
The area provides fun riding for all levels of difficulty and is primarily hard packed dirt, decomposed granite or sand. Terrain goes from the valley floor near the Carson River, to the pinyon-Juniper foothills. There are hundreds of miles of both single and double-track trails, with unlimited enjoyment and challenges for all experience levels. Spectacular views of beautiful Carson Valley can be seen from the upper elevations in the Pine Nuts and from Hot Springs Mountain.
This is a multi-use trail system, popular with both equestrians and off-highway vehicles. Please respect other trail users and follow standard trail etiquette guidelines.
To the West, the community of Johnson Lane is an OHV-friendly community. There are many dirt roads around the town, many of which can be used by OHVs. Please note, however, that these areas are primarily light commercial and residential neighborhoods. Respect all traffic signs and traffic laws and be aware of pedestrians.

Large parking pull outs are available, and most parking areas will accommodate trailers and serve as a staging area. Follow signs in the neighborhood for staging area.
The Stephanie Lane Equestrian Area parking is for horse trailers and equestrians only.
The trails in this area are also accessible from Carson City's Sierra Vista Lane trailheads, across the river from the Silver Saddle Ranch.
