With 72 miles of shoreline, Rye Patch State Recreation Area is a great place for fishing, swimming and boating! This state recreation area is equipped with a boat ramp for easy put in and take out. Common fish include white bass, wipers, channel catfish and black bass.
There are several small trails around the south end of the reservoir for hikers and trail runners. All of the trails are compact dirt and each are less than 1 mile long. For a longer trip you can walk or drive around the reservoir.
With its all inclusive campsite and plenty of picnic areas, this recreation area has become a popular staging area for access to nearby OHV trails. Each campsite is first come first serve. Check the state park website for more information on day use fees.

Motorized and non-motorized boats are permitted.
OHV use is only allowed on existing roads to access the surrounding public lands.

Nevada State Parks- Rye Patch Recreation AreaLocated 118 miles north-east of Reno and 50 miles south-west of Winnemucca along Interstate 80. Entrance to the recreation area is on the west side of the highway.
