This park features a unique and amazing network of long, narrow slot canyons, just wide enough for a single person in some places. The canyons were created by hundreds of thousands of years of erosion through a thick layer of volcanic ash, and provide unlimited photographic opportunities.
The park trails are generally short, with the longest trail, the Juniper Draw Loop, being about 4 miles long. At the main park trailhead, visit the historic stone structures built by the Civilian Conservation Corps in the 1930’s. The Miller and Eagle Point trails provide beautiful views looking down into the canyons from the ridge. There are 22 improved camp sites in the park, including 2 ADA-accessible sites.
