This newly rebuilt trail is one of the few trails in the Tahoe Basin that allows dirt bikes, mountain bikes and hikers! Come experience this fast and flowy trail designed to get your adrenaline going with a mix of rock gardens and tree obstacles.
From the south trailhead you will have an overall 1,290 ft. elevation gain past the Tahoe Rim trail where it will end at Genoa Peak dirt road. The way back down will be the same way, but this time with more speed and excitement! The trail can be very sandy in some parts making a climb or descent more difficult and technical. Various rock gardens have been set up throughout the trail with options to either avoid the rocks entirely or brave them! The trail has two liens, one for beginners and one for experts.
The majority of recreationalists will park one car at the south end and take the trail downhill to skip the uphill climb.
This is a very well trafficked multi-use trail so please be aware of oncoming recreationalists and yield when appropriate.
Trailhead access parking for the south trailhead is in a neighborhood. Please be respectful of where you park.
Help preserve the forest and only ride on designated trails! Visit the US Forest Service website to learn more about the South Trailhead and the whole trail.
