Description

The variety of habitat from sage shrub lands to wet and marshy meadows creates a very unique and diverse biological region in Nevada. In the shrub lands you will find mule deer, sage grouse and pronghorn antelope where as in the wetlands you will find a variety of different birds, amphibians and reptiles. Some of the more popular activities at the Wayne E. Kirch Wildlife Management Area are horseback riding, sightseeing, hiking, camping and fishing. Hunting in the area mostly consists of waterfowl and dove hunting, big game is sparse in the area so hunting deer or pronghorn is not allowed. Fishing is the most popular recreation activity, with trout season occurring from March though August and bass fishing staring in May and ending in September. Certain reservoirs are open at certain times of year and each have their own restrictions.

Boat launches are available at Haymeadow Reservoir, Cold Springs Reservoir, Adams-McGill Reservoir and Dacey Reservoir.

This is a wildlife management area, please adhere to the seasonal closures of various areas within the management boundary. From February 15th - August 15th, access is restricted in the upper portion of Adams-McGill, Cold Springs, Dacey and Haymeadow reservoirs and all of Tule Reservoir due to waterfowl nesting season. Only boats without motors are allowed on Davey Reservoir from Feb.15th through Aug. 15th. Flat wake restrictions are in effect year round.
