The Shoshone trails highlight the best of OHV riding in the remote areas of Central Nevada. It is the first specifically-designed Off-Road Vehicle complex in the state, and includes over 60 miles of trail on BLM land. Riders will experience amazing views of surrounding mountain ranges, pine ridges and high-desert ecosystems. The trails are designed to provide users with a variety of terrain and difficulty levels – there is something for everyone. There is also a small "Learner's Loop" close to the main trailhead, which provides a safe area for younger riders to practice their skills.

The Shoshone OHV Trail System is approximately 25 miles south of Battle Mountain, on Red Rock Road, off of State Route 305. The trailhead includes plenty of room for staging and dry camping area and has a vault toilet. There are also several unimproved campsite locations along the access road and across the complex.
Another good camping option is the Mill Creek Recreation Area. It is located a short 20 miles south of Battle Mountain, Nevada on State Route (SR) 305. From the signed turn-off you will travel four miles East on a maintained gravel road to the recreation site entrance. This campground is about 5 miles north from the Shoshone trailhead, along SR305. Riders will need to go back out onto SR305 and head south to Red Rock Canyon Road to access the Shoshone trail system from camp, as there is currently no off-road access directly from Mill Creek to the Shoshone trailhead.
