Sky Tavern’s bike park was built by the 501c3 non-profit organization with a mission to get kids outdoors regardless of their age. The bike park is comprised of an entire trail system that will help riders of any age or ability improve their skill. This bike park is also a cycling hub that joins the greater Reno/Carson trails with the Lake Tahoe trail system, via the Tamarack trail. There is ample free parking and on most days you’ll find access to restrooms inside the lodge.
During the winter, this summer wonderland is snow covered and offers plenty of trails for beginner and intermediate riders! Lessons, seasons passes and rentals are all available on site.
Trails Breakdown:
Green:
Easy Up: A dedicated uphill-only trail designed to be the easiest route to the “Top of Sky” providing access to the Sky Tavern trail system and the Tamarack trail leading to the greater Lake Tahoe trail system.
High Fives: A purpose-built Adaptive flow trail that allows for all riders to access this bobsled course of a trail. The trail features wide flow for nearly 2 miles with easy features for beginner and intermediate riders, which is also fun for advanced riders that love big berms. This trail is one of the first adaptive mountain bike trails in the area.
Skinny Loop: Built by engineers to encourage riders to challenge themselves on a “skinny course” of twists and turns to develop courage, focus and balance.
Tate’s coaching loop, this is the best place to practice your basic skills like roll-overs, berms, skinny, teeter-totter and two easy drops.
Blue:
College Boy: A single track downhill trail with intermediate challenges, featuring the rock garden, fun back to back berms and smaller intermediate jumps. This will certainly help you with
your degree in Mountain biking!
Lower Skyline: A more-tame descent after the hair-raising fun of upper Skyline, this trail brings you safely back to the base of Sky Tavern so you can take another lap!
Dual slalom: Challenge your friends to a head to head race, featuring nearly identical intermediate side by side trails with smaller jumps and berms that will have you pushing yourself
for bragging rights!
Black:
Black Rock: A black diamond Enduro style downhill trail that boasts drops, two wood berms, rock ramps, a tree skinny and challenging berms that will have you digging deep into your
technical bag of tricks.
Buzzsaw: A double black diamond alternate from Skyline, featuring some even steeper lines and rocky steps. Only the boldest need apply!
Skyline: A double black diamond downhill single track with technical steep lines, one large drop and rock stairs. Not for the faint of heart!
