The 2.2-mile loop around Spooner Lake begins at the North Canyon Road parking lot at the west end of the lake, and continues around it. At its east end, a 0.3-mile trail connects to the trailhead for the Spooner Summit and Clear Creek trails. There are several additional trailheads along that loop that lead to several larger trail networks if you are looking for a longer or more strenuous hike, include the North Canyon Road Trail, to the Marlette Flume Trail and the Tahoe Rim Trail.
Fishing, swimming and kayaking are popular summertime activities at Spooner Lake. Fishing licenses are required and can be obtained through the Nevada Department of Wildlife website. In the winter, Spooner Lake is a popular cross country ski and snowshoe area. If there is enough snow, the area is groomed and kept in good condition.
The only ADA trail in the area is the Spooner Lake trail. Visit the Trail Access Project website for more information.
