Traveling through the Lodgepole Pines, you find trails that climb steadily upwards and twist and turn eventually reaching majestic views of Lake Tahoe. Snowshoers, dogs and Nordic skiers are abundant in the area as its one of the only free and groomed Nordic ski areas in the Lake Tahoe Basin. This area is also commonly traveled on a full moon when the moonlight guides your path, but also be sure to bring a headlamp and know your way. There is a good blend of easy to intermediate trails, allowing for first timers and experts alike to enjoy!
Mountain Chickadees, sometimes called the "cheeseburger" bird due to the male mating call, are regularly fed here in Tahoe Meadows. Do not be surprised if they gather in the trees around you or seem interested in your picnic! While many people bring nutritious black sunflower seeds to feed these birds in winter months, this is not recommended in other areas.
The trails are open to several types of use; snowshoeing, skate skiing, classic skiing and fat biking. For the fun and safety of everyone, stick to the designated trail for your recreation activity and follow proper now trail etiquette!
❄️ snowshoe off to the side of the groomed trails (the snow shoe tracks make the trails very hard to ski on)
❄️ skate in the middle
❄️ stride in the tracks
Furry friends are allowed on the trails but please ensure they do not post hole on the tracks and you pick up after them. Dog waste bags are provided at the upper section access area.
