Wilson Canyon is a designated Bureau of Land Management OHV Recreation Area along the West Walker River, in Lyon County, Nevada. The trails go along hardened dunes with some areas being very rocky. There are very few single track trails in the area making this a UTV or ATV paradise.
The Wilson Canyon trail is for hiking only and is located south-east of the Wilson Canyon OHV Recreation Area. The trail is for pedestrians only and is just over 3 miles, winding in and out of beautiful canyons. Along this trail you will find several interpretive signs for plants and geology in the area. Petrified trees are abundant along this hike and some are marked with signage for easy viewing. Although a little strenuous at times this trail makes for a great family day out. The trail head area has a large parking lot, a kiosk and a shaded picnic area. Restrooms are available at the Wilson Canyon OHV Recreation Area and the NDOT rest area.
