Description

The lower half of the canyon is filled with easy to intermediate trails and they get harder the further up the mountain you go. The trails weave in and out of the canyons of the Mojave Desert. Occasionally you may get a glimpse of Lake Mead, but the majority of the trail offers up stunning views of the Las Vegas Valley.

There are several trails that are designated for hikers only and several dedicated to only mountain bikers. It is recommended that hikers use their designated trails as to not interfere with mountain bikers. Trails may become narrow at times with a steep drop off and plenty of rocks.

Along with hiking and mountain biking, the Bootleg Canyon also has a 1.5 mile zip-line as well as a paragliding staging area at the Red mountain overlook parking area.

Other Information

CAUTION: Mountain Bikers and Hikers share certain trails. Hikers must yield to Mountain Bikes.

This area is known to get very hot in the summer. Be sure to bring plenty of water, sunscreen and long, light layers to protect you from the heat.

Bootleg canyon is open year-round and is best traveled in the fall and winter months.

Several downhill mountain bike events are held here throughout the year. Check the Bootleg Canyon calendar to learn more.

Shuttles services offered Friday, Saturday and Sunday to bring you to the mountain from Las Vegas and another one that brings you back to the top of the mountain after finishing a trail. Check the Bootleg Canyon Shuttle Facebook page for the most up to date information
