Description

The major trail in Echo Canyon State Park is the Ash Canyon Trail. This trail starts at the north campground and weaves in and around beautiful Ash Canyon which was formed by volcanic rock 17 to 41 million years ago. This trail is a 2.5 mile long loop, starting and ending at the north campground. Once you reach the Rose Valley road, you can take the road back to the north campground or cross the bridge and walk along the lake on the south side of the State Park.

Fishing and boating is very popular on the Echo Canyon Reservoir. The reservoir is stocked with rainbow trout, largemouth bass, and crappies. Water levels vary significantly throughout the year, but the boat ramp is usually open. If water levels are too low and the boat ramp is closed, portage can be done from the shore.

There are two first come, first served campgrounds. The north campground is for tent camping and the south campground is for RV's, both complete with drinking water, a flush restroom and picnic area.

Other Information

Nevada State Parks has switched to a reservation system. Check the requirements for camping here!

Starting October 7th 2024, the Echo reservoir will be drained for repair work. Fishing and boating will not be accessible during this time.
