This is a very popular trail area in Reno, giving locals and visitors access to seemingly endless miles of trail. Tucked into the foothills of the Sierra Nevada Mtn range, these trails offer plenty of shade and some water crossing options in spring and summer. In the winter, you can expect the trails to be snow covered, but still accessible via snowshoe or cross country skis. There are approximately 31 miles of trail in this area ranging from easy nature walks that are family friendly, to strenuous peak climbing to high alpine lakes such as Church's pond. Whether you plan to go the distance, or need an easy and relaxing trail, this park has it all!
The Whites Creek and Thomas Creek trails can both be accessed outside of the park on Timberline Road north off of HWY 431 (Mt. Rose Highway). There may be seasonal road closures on the access road that leads you to Whites Creek trailhead.
There is one paved, ADA accessible path, the Interpretive Loop, near the visitor’s center.
